Winging it with chicken and gin –

I would like to thank Naa Ako-Adjei for this recipe, which I found on Food Republic’s website.  She also has some other tasty looking recipes to try, so here’s the link.

A classically trained chef living in Washington DC, she said: “I am a firm believer that alcohol belongs in food as much as it does in a bottle, so I paired gin, with its nice woodsy undertones, with the sweetness of brown sugar for a Gin and Lemon Chicken Wings recipe so easy that you can prepare it during commercials.”

Prep Time: 5 min – Cook Time: 30-35min – Level of Difficulty: Easy – Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds chicken wings, at room temperature
  • zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup Gin
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F. (220C)
  2. Whisk all the ingredients together, except the wings.
  3. Toss the wings in the mixture, making sure they are completely coated.
  4. Line a baking sheet with foil and place the wings on the foil in a single layer.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until cooked through.

As the chef says, “You can have your cocktail and wing it too!”
